Coalescing Plate Packs Print E-mail

coalescing plates sidevieuw oil separator internalsHydro-Carbon Filtration & Separation is offering systems to separate liquid hydrocarbons (oils) from water by means of coalescing plate pack systems down to 5 ppm. This page will explain you the functioning and technical backgrounds of the Coalescing Plate Pack.

Coalescing Plate Packs are used in our Oil Water Separators.

Oil-Water Separators Print E-mail

oil water separator tank Coalescing plate separators were designed to overcome some of the disadvantages of empty-tank type separators and provide separation of hydrocarbons from water streams in more compact and efficient systems.  The empty tank type of separators are designed to remove 150 micron and larger droplets, and have effluent quality in the range of 150 mg/l, whereas coalescing plate separators may be designed to remove droplets down to 20 microns or less with effluent qualities down to 10 mg/l or less.
Since oil is usually present in a spectrum of small droplet sizes, the value of coalescing plate type separators may readily be seen as they produce relatively pure oil and do not require the use of absorbents which become waste when used. Separation of oil and water is different than the settling separation of solids in a clarifier. Oil droplets coalesce into larger, spherical droplets, while solids agglomerate into larger masses but do not coalesce into particles that have lower surface/volume ratios like oil.
When it is necessary to remove oil from water, coalescing plate module type oil-water separators are often a good solution because they remove the oil using only gravity for motive force, the separator modules are permanent and require little maintenance, no absorbents or other consumable items such as filter cartridges are required, and the oil that is separated is often recyclable.

woolspill oiladsorber tpo remove free and emulsiefeid oilWoolspill, a natural wool product, is an effective and highly efficient oil sorbent material able to adsorb up to 36 times its own weight in oil. Hydro-Carbon Filtration & Separation is offering solutions to remove efficently free ans slightly emulsiefeid oi from water. The Woolspill is used as final stage in our oil-water separators or used in stand alone pressure vessels acording your requirements.    Depending on the application tailor made solutions for the removal of oil, suspended solids and other contamination can be made available.

Separation of hydrocarbons from water Print E-mail

Environmental requirements and process improvements. The environmental requirements are continuously improved. Not only are the rules for discharging waste water increasingly strict, but the rules are also applied wider, both in geographical spread as in application spread. Nowadays there are strict rules for the oil content in waste water discharges. Hydro-Carbon Filtration & Separation offers customised solutions for the removal of oil from water, not only for waste water applications, but also for process applications. The treatment of waste water requires usually the removal of free and emulsified oils to levels in the ppm range.

Hydro-Carbon Filtration & Separation offers cost-effective systems for waste water treatment. Our gravity separators (with minimal operating cost) and adsorption systems are widely used for waste water treatment.

Cost reduction in processes can be achieved by enlarging the life time of process fluids by removing unwanted contamination from the fluids. Often the cost reduction includes reduced disposal cost and savings on labour due to the reduction of the number of changes. Additionally the process is often improved since the average quality of the process fluids is better than before. Processes suitable for improvement include - but are not limited to - life time improvement of drilling liquids and degreasing liquids.
